XRP Lawsuit: In a new development in the lawsuit between the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple, another Ripple Labs attorney and CEO Brad Garlinghouse has asked the court to withdraw from the lawsuit. XRP holders are actively awaiting a preliminary injunction from Judge Analisa Torres, while pro-XRP attorney John Deaton and Ripple CTO David Schwartz claimed the ruling could come in September.
XRP Lawsuit: Ripple’s Lawyer Files Request for Withdrawal
According to an indictment filed in New York’s Southern District Court on July 12, a request has been made for Anna R. Gressel to withdraw as defendant Ripple Labs’ attorney in court.
Ripple has asked the court to allow Anna R. Gressel of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP to withdraw as an attorney in the US SEC lawsuit. It follows that Anna Gressel is no longer associated with the law firm from 12 July.
Other lawyers from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP will continue to represent Ripple Labs in the lawsuit. In addition, Ripple claims that Gressel’s withdrawal will not affect the interests of the defendants, including CEO Brad Garlinghouse and co-founder Chris Larsen.

As the Ripple vs SEC ruling approaches, some attorneys have withdrawn from the lawsuit. Recently, attorneys Clayton J. Masterman and Kylie Chiseul Kim have withdrawn from the case. Ripple had clarified that the recordings did not adversely affect the lawsuit.
XRP community and Ripple executives are confident that they will win the lawsuit against the US SEC. However, the community is frustrated with the delay in issuing summary judgment. John Deaton said it has now been 7 months and Judge Torres’ history suggests she never needed more than 9 months for a final decision. Both Deaton and Ripple CTO David Schwartz expect a lawsuit in September.
