The UrbanChange Protocol, a dual token economy model that promotes economic and social sustainability in local communities around the world, is launching on the mainnet. In the coming weeks, the protocol and its offerings will be publicly available.
UrbanChange Protocol presents a paradigm shift in how local engagement is measured and incentivized. The protocol empowers community leaders, both organizations and individuals, to maximize the impact of their budgets by promoting local engagement related to sustainability, education, preventative care, diversity, and local purchasing.
The upcoming mainnet launch will allow motivated residents and leaders to be among the first to launch UrbanChange in their communities and receive early adoption benefits, including a designated grant to drive success.
UrbanChange’s dual token model allows community leaders to set, track and achieve their goals by motivating residents to participate in community initiatives. Ultimately, this creates a strong and circular local economy that drives greater economic and social prosperity and gives residents a true sense of ownership.
The protocol model uses two tokens: LocalCoins and ImpactTokens. These tokens work together to stimulate an ongoing cycle of social engagement and economic growth.
The LocalCoin is a local currency. Residents earn LocalCoins for taking actions that support community goals, such as recycling, volunteering, and promoting education, and then use their LocalCoins to shop at local, whitelisted businesses.
Spending LocalCoins is worth ImpactTokens. ImpactTokens offer voting and governance rights to community members and provide access to the benefits associated with shared ownership. Ultimately, ImpactTokens reflect the prosperity and level of social engagement of urban communities.
Local Hero Program and Grants
The upcoming mainnet launch will allow communities to launch their own LocalCoins and ImpactTokens to stimulate a unique cycle of economic growth and social impact. In anticipation of the launch, UrbanChange has opened the floor for community leaders around the world to receive a grant of the 5,000 UrbanChange tokens needed to launch their community on the UrbanChange Protocol. A total of 10 grants will be distributed to community leaders who join the Local Heroes Program and take the necessary steps to open their UrbanChange Vault.
The UrbanChange Local Heroes Program is designed to support UrbanChange leaders in communities around the world. The program provides leaders with the necessary resources to spread the word and successfully implement UrbanChange in their local communities.
