It has been quite some time since Ripple has been dealing with the lawsuit filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The case has been going on since December 2020, and still, the end does not seem near.

Meanwhile, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse, while chatting with Axios Fintech reporter Lucin Shen at Collision 2022, expressed his optimistic stance towards the ongoing dispute between Ripple and the SEC.

The reporter and Brad had an intense discussion on cryptocurrency-related issues along with the long-running legal battle between Ripple and the SEC.

Brad was not holding back in his opinions and clearly bet against the SEC’s claims that Ripple would win the case. To prove his statement, he argued that even the law, along with some other factors, clearly shows that XRP is not a security.

Furthermore, Brad bets against the SEC claims and says that Ripple will win the case and confirms that the law and some other considerations support the blockchain company.

Brad concluded by stating that the US Securities and Exchange Commission continues to take the law into its own hands, a reprehensible action.

What happens if Ripple loses the lawsuit?

Shen then asked Brad what would happen if the Blockchain company loses the case against the SEC. He responded that Ripple is approaching the process well and is running its operations as if it had already lost the lawsuit.

This is because right after the SEC filed the lawsuit against Ripple, the US-based cryptocurrency exchange stopped trading XRP because the SEC would be after them for allowing trading in such assets.

Garlinghouse cites that if Ripple loses the case, nothing will change because it’s just the state, and Ripple will grow no matter what.

Will the SEC file the Hinman documents?

Meanwhile, the Ripple vs SEC lawsuit is considered one of the most important legal disputes directed by the SEC against the cryptocurrency sector.

There has been a lot of progress in the case since its inception in December 2020. Ripple was recently successful after the court ordered the SEC to produce documents related to William Hinman’s speech in 2018. However, the SEC was opposes the presentation of the documents.

Everyone awaits further proceedings to find out how the situation develops in court.
